This Friday was the first day of summer, I got out extra early due to the fact I was uncertain on how scattered bait would be. But I actually got bait relatively easily for throwing on the flats, maybe a ten throws to black out the well. I’ll take it!
Pickup My customers and off we go.
The first stop produces trout on topwater, not the largest trout I’ve been catching but any fish on artificial is fun!
As the tide pushes up I to push up the flat with the mullet and slowly
and methodically work our artificial and live/cut bait on the different edges and drop off’s, only to catch a few more trout. We keep moving, until we come up onto this sand area that is loaded with big snook and reds. I throw some chummers and boom!!! they are all getting blasted! My clients cast into the feeding frenzy and pull out a nice upper slot red, before we take off to catch some mackerel!!
Honestly, I was hoping to keep them out a little bit longer due to the slow bite, but my client had a
appointment in the afternoon. Sam senior and Sam junior still had a great time fishing, I hope to see them again soon!
After my trip home I had a little trailer issue having a hub blow out on the freeway. I limp the rig into T.A. MAhoney’s and get everything rolling again, or so I think. Get home check tire pressure in the boat, and I see my tire is leaking around the valve stem.
So after a few hours of trailer repairs, Off to Englewood I go to fish for the weekend.
I was suppose to run a charter while I was down south, but it ended up getting cancelled due to my clients unable to make it.
So off I go to fish all weekend with the Gf and my puppies, I started fishing some areas that have been productive in the past, catching some snook, reds, and trout.
But that afternoon fishing went off!! We where catching snook almost every cast for a full hour, almost unheard of on artificial!! what a great bite!!
Sunday morning we get into Redfish mode and again cannot get away from the small snook!! We keep moving and finally have a good redfish bite. catching fish up to 26 inches. before it got to hot for everyone and we went for a long swim!!
