Tampa Bay Fishing Report: Winds and Waves Can’t Stop the Redfish Run!

This past weekend’s weather was certainly “sporty” to say the least, with the wind gusting up to 25 knots out of the northeast. The seas were choppy, but here’s the secret: the fish didn’t seem to mind a bit! The few of us that braved those harsh conditions were rewarded with some truly epic catches. This demonstrates the quality of fishing right now in Tampa Bay, Florida.

The Fantastic Bite: Charters Extending Daily

The bite has been so fantastic, nearly every one of our scheduled four-hour charters this week quickly turned into a six or even eight-hour trip. When the action is this hot, no one wants to head back to the dock! So, if you’re looking for an aggressive bite this week, don’t be afraid of the wind—it’s actually concentrating the bait and driving the predators crazy.

Redfish and Snook Dominate the Spotlight

The Redfish bite has been the highlight, with our FishnFL team tracking a very large, powerful school all week long.

• Trophy Redfish: These are not small fish! We’ve been consistently catching bull Redfish pushing 35 to 40-inch breeder size. Landing one of these giants provides tons of drag-screaming fun and is an unforgettable experience for any angler.
• Snook Action: The Snook have also been in the spotlight, with multiple days seeing 20 to 30 fish landed per charter. They are staging perfectly around structure and hitting aggressively, giving us incredible action on light tackle.

For anyone fishing with children or looking to fill the cooler with some delicious dinner, the sheer number of Mackerel and Snapper we’ve been catching is reason enough to book.
