Post-Storm Fishing Report: Tampa Bay Action is Better Than Ever!

We’re incredibly thankful to be back on the water this week after the hectic events surrounding Hurricane Ian. While the storm was a major event, the Tampa Bay fishing scene has bounced back with phenomenal results.

The Hurricane Effect: Clean Water and Aggressive Fish

The good news is that the massive tidal movements and influx of clean water caused by the storm have dramatically cleared out the bay. The water is now almost as clean and clear as it was before the storm—and the fishing is even better!

This deep flushing action has invigorated the inshore fish and positioned them perfectly for aggressive feeding.

This Week’s Hot Species

We are running highly successful Tampa fishing charters with a fantastic mix of highly sought-after species:

  • Snook: They are moving and hitting aggressively now that the water has settled. We are finding them staged up along the primary migration routes and mangrove edges.
  • Spotted Sea Trout: The clarity of the water has been a huge boost for the Trout bite. They are hitting consistently across the grass flats.
  • Redfish: Schools of Redfish are beginning to settle into their new post-storm feeding patterns, providing exciting sight-fishing opportunities.
  • Tripletail and Snapper: We are also seeing great action on nearshore structure and floating debris, where we are targeting Tripletail and various Snapper species.
