Bradenton Fishing Report: Battling the Surprise Cold Front for Quality Fish
The weatherman got it wrong this week! Despite being forecast for Thursday, the cold front ended up moving in abruptly on Wednesday, making the bite challenging for sure. When a front moves in unexpectedly, it often shuts down the fishing—but we still ended up getting it done!
Tactical Fishing in Bradenton
We were guiding on the inter-coastal waterway and the Manatee River in Bradenton, FL. Our primary goal quickly shifted from chasing easy bites to a highly tactical approach: using the gusting southwest wind (up to 20 knots) to our advantage.
This strategy essentially limited us to efficiently fishing the southern shorelines, focusing on spots where the wind concentrated bait and provided a good drift line. Nothing makes my job as a Tampa Fishing Charter guide harder than when conditions are super tough, but the challenge just makes the success sweeter.
Quality Catches Prove Perseverance
Our perseverance and strategic approach paid off with several high-quality fish:
- We landed a beautiful 30-inch Redfish.
- We brought a solid 28-inch Snook boat-side.
- We also caught some decent Trout, several Mangrove Snapper, and other miscellaneous fish.
I’m glad we still got it done, proving that with local knowledge and adaptability, we can find and catch fish even on the toughest days.
