Our Tampa Youth Fishing Academy is designed for kids ages 8–15. Beginners are welcome, and experienced young anglers will level up their skills throughout the week.

How many kids are on each boat?

We limit enrollment to just four campers per boat to maximize instruction and keep the experience safe, focused, and fun.

Do kids need fishing experience to attend?

No. We teach everything from the ground up—casting basics, knot tying, bait and lure rigging, and how to safely handle and release fish.

Safety is our top priority. Campers fish with experienced, licensed captains and receive daily safety briefings. Life jackets are available for all campers and safety procedures are followed at all times.

What should my child bring to fishing camp?

Bring sunscreen, a hat, sunglasses, appropriate clothing for sun and weather, and a refillable water bottle. We provide the fishing gear, tackle, and safety equipment.

What happens if weather is bad?

If conditions are unsafe, we adjust the plan. This may include rescheduling on-water time or switching to structured dockside skill training (casting, knots, rigging, and conservation lessons).

Can friends be placed together?

Yes. Parents can request fishing buddies during registration, and we do our best to place friends together based on availability.

Can parents fish with campers?

This is a kids-only camp so campers can learn and build confidence with their peer group. If you’d like to fish together as a family, we also offer private family fishing charters.

Will my child catch fish?

While fishing is never guaranteed, our small group size and captain-led instruction significantly improves each camper’s chances of success. We focus on putting every camper on fish and building skills that make them better anglers.

Can my child keep their catch?

We primarily practice responsible catch-and-release. If a fish is legal to keep and you choose to keep it, we’ll explain local regulations and best practices.
