December Fishing Report – Tampa Bay Charters with FishnFL

December has been an incredible month for Tampa Bay fishing charters. Despite the cooler mornings and occasional strong winds, anglers have been rewarded with excellent catches throughout the bay.

Redfish and Trout Action

The bay has been full of small redfish, with some trips landing close to 100 fish in a single day. Speckled trout have also been abundant, giving anglers plenty of action on both inshore flats and deeper waters. These cooler months are ideal for anglers who are willing to brave the early morning temperatures, as the bays are less crowded and fish are active.

Cobia – The Star of the Month

The biggest highlight recently has been cobia. This winter has brought some of the largest numbers of cobia into Tampa Bay than I’ve seen in many years. On my last charter alone, we landed 10 cobia!

These fast growing fish provide an exciting challenge for anglers and are a staple species during winter charters.
